Do You Wear Artificial Nails or Nail Polish at Work,Sister Nurses?

Chinese

Though I have never seen a nurse wear artificial nails or nail polish at work, but as cosmetics surge into every corner of our life,I think it's not impossible.

In Medscape's Experts and Viewpoints section, professor Rothrock told us the current guidelines about this:"do not wear artificial fingernails or extenders when having direct contact with patients at high risk",and "do not operate with artificial nails".

From this article,I learned that artificial nails have higher risk to transfer gram-negative pathogens, and most bacterial growth occurs within 1 mm nail adjacent to subungual skin.Nail polish and plastic or acrylic nails trap moisture and fungi,so it's highly possible to transfer fungi to patients at high risks.Wearing acrylic nails can contribute to hands remaining contaminated with pathogens after use of soap or alcohol-based hand gels.

In my living circle, people deem women wearing artificial nails lazy ones, because they can't do things efficiently.Although it's a bit arbitrary, and I don't quite agree with it.

So,sister nurses, what do you think and what will you do after message.
